Membership of the Society is open to any individual, anywhere in the world, with an interest in biochemistry. Current membership is c.7000 of which one-third are international.

The Society currently influences public policy through the Biosciences Federation.

Education is supported through Local Scientific Events Grants, Careers Conferences and Teachers Workshops.
